On 29th May 2023, golf enthusiasts and members of the British & Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce in Finland gathered at the Tapiola Golf for the highly anticipated 6th Commonwealth Golf Day. The sun was shining, and the air was filled with a palpable sense of excitement as participants prepared for a day filled with friendly competition, networking, and memorable experiences.
The event started with a captivating golf tournament, where players from diverse backgrounds showcased their skills and sportsmanship. Amidst the well-manicured greens and lush fairways, the players engaged in spirited competition, displaying both precision and grace in their shots. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as players of all levels came together to enjoy the game they loved.
But the Commonwealth Golf Day wasn't just about golf. It was an opportunity for like-minded individuals to connect and build lasting relationships. After the game, participants had the chance to unwind and relax in a traditional Finnish sauna, immersing themselves in the soothing heat and sharing stories of their golfing triumphs and near-misses. As laughter and camaraderie filled the air, business connections were forged, and friendships blossomed.
To keep everyone energised throughout the day, refreshments were served, ensuring that the participants remained fueled and ready to take on the challenges of the golf course. And as the day progressed, the atmosphere was further enlivened by the lively tunes of the Red Legs Band, whose music provided a vibrant soundtrack to the event, eliciting smiles and tapping feet from the attendees.
The pinnacle of the event was the highly anticipated prize ceremony – which saw Anna Kavén-Toppi, Eve Arpiainen, and Leena Lundell as the ‘Best Team’, Nicolas Von Walzel win the ‘Longest Drive’, Elias Koski with the ‘Closest the PinDrive’, and Ben Holden awarded with the Commonwealth Trophy as scratch and gross winner.
Sponsors played a vital role in enhancing the event experience. Rights & Brands, with their generosity, added a touch of whimsy to the game by providing Moomin golf balls to all participants. Edrington Finland, taking charge of the prizes, awarded coveted Famous Grouse bottles to the tournament winner and winners of the special competitions, symbolising their exceptional golfing skills. And for those who appreciated the finer things in life, J.Cortes provided cigars, ensuring that indulgence and relaxation went hand in hand. Adding to the excitement, the event featured the innovative Golf Simulator Module developed by Aulis Lundell Ltd, a member company of the British & Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce in Finland. The module promised leisure and fun, captivating participants with its cutting-edge technology and offering them a glimpse into the future of golf. It was a testament to the chamber's commitment to fostering innovation and providing unique experiences for its members.
