Vaasa Energy Week 2025

Vaasa Energy Week 2025 provided an outstanding platform for fostering global business connections and advancing discussions on sustainable energy. The British & Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce in Finland organised an official side event, bringing together key industry, diplomacy, and government stakeholders to explore new opportunities.

The day began with a warm welcome from Mayor Tomas Häyry at the luncheon held at the historic Governor’s Residence, hosted by the City of Vaasa. The gathering brought together diplomatic and business leaders to discuss energy and trade opportunities. We had the pleasure of engaging with prominent stakeholders, including HMA Laura Davies, British Ambassador to Finland, and Paula Erkkilä, the CEO of Ostrobothnia Chamber of Commerce.

A central part of our programme was the Commonwealth Energy Seminar, organised by B3CF and supported by the Malaysian Investment and Development Authority (MIDA) and the Embassy of Namibia in Finland. This event attracted our members and stakeholders to explore the latest advancements in energy innovation, international market opportunities, and strategic partnerships.

The seminar featured key presentations from Herkko Plit, P2X Solutions, showcasing Finland’s pioneering approach to green hydrogen production and its role in sustainable energy solutions. Khairul Azhar from MIDA provided valuable insights into Southeast Asia’s renewable energy landscape and investment prospects, while the Ambassador of Namibia, HE Charles B. Josob, highlighted the country's vast potential for green hydrogen production and sustainable energy exports.

Following the seminar, we hosted an exclusive Commonwealth Dinner, offering an excellent opportunity for further discussions in a more informal setting. B3CF members, industry leaders, diplomats, and business executives exchanged insights on futurec ollaboration and deepened connections. B3CF remains dedicated to fostering international partnerships and supporting business collaboration between Finland and the Commonwealth. The success of our engagements in Vaasa highlights the importance of strategic networking and industry-driven initiatives.

A special thank you to our partners and all participants for making this an impactful and productive programme. The region is clearly thriving, and we look forward to returning next year—hopefully even sooner.
