The B3CF Brexit and GDPR Breakfast was held on 3rd October 2019, casting a spotlight on the effects of Brexit, potentially not too far around the corner, on organisations with GDPR compliance obligations. The event was sponsored by Eversheds Sutherland, who also kindly offered their Helsinki offices as a venue for the breakfast. The breakfast sought to promote awareness among B3CF members regarding the various implications of Brexit for business operations, with a particular focus on how to continue to safeguard personal data in line with GDPR standards.
Guest speakers at the breakfast included GDPR experts such as Reggie Rusan, Founder of SimpleTec Solutions; Richard Carter, Director of Blaze Hill Media; and Lavinia Husa, Senior Associate at Eversheds Sutherland. The speakers shared precious insights into the commercial, technical and legal ramifications of Brexit for GDPR compliance.
The presentations were heard over a continental breakfast, which was followed by a Q&A session in which guests had the opportunity to share their concerns and doubts. The breakfast was concluded by Mr. Vladislav Dobrokhotov, Executive Director of the B3CF, who proposed that speakers could collaborate to produce a package of commercial and legal advice for the benefit of B3CF members. An informal networking session followed.
B3CF wish to thank all the participants, especially the speakers, and Eversheds Sutherland, Helsinki, for making the breakfast such an overwhelming success.
